It's so quiet! I can hear my grandmother's pendulum clock ticking on my mantel and birds chirping outside. My husband read with me for a bit this morning (he's reading The Night Circus) before he went off for a late breakfast with a buddy.

It's nice that you and your husband read together. I wonder if I can persuade my mother to read with me for a little bit this afternoon?

How lovely, the sound of birds chirping outside is one of the nicest accompaniments to reading, it just feels so nice.
