A Different Kind of Challenge: One Hundred Push Ups

If you've been visiting Tip of the Iceberg for awhile, you know that I take on reading challenges. I'm currently participating in the TBR Book Challenge, the 1st in a Series Challenge, the Japanese Literature Challenge, the Book Awards Challenge, and the RIP Challenge. You can find links to these challenges, as well as my reading lists, in the sidebar. These challenges all have something in common ... they require a lot of sitting. I guess maybe my eyeballs get some exercise, but the rest of me is rather still when I read.

I get out for aerobic activity often enough, but I've noticed that my upper body strength has fallen into the "lame" category. I guess holding a book up in front of my face doesn't do enough for those upper body muscles. Darn.

Of course I couldn't just DO something about this state of upper body laxness, I had to go looking for a challenge. I found one! It's called the One Hundred Push Ups Challenge. Theoretically I will be able to do 100 consecutive push ups (man type push ups) after six weeks. The plan requires work on three days of each week. I've just begun my third week and I've gone from a lame-o six whole consecutive push ups to a set of twenty-one consecutive push ups in just 2 weeks (six sessions).

I think I can, I think I can ...
