  1. I'll be joining this challenge as well but have no idea what to read! I'll have to look into your picks as potential suggestions--I don't think I've read any true japanese literature so I'm really excited for the experience.

  2. I read Kitchen the first time I hosted the Japanese Literature Challenge, and I thought it was great. I've heard really good things about Kafka on The Shore, and I'm considering that myself this time around. The first choice of yours I've not heard of, so it'll be good to read your review. I'm glad you joined!

  3. I read a really good mystery by Miyabe recently. I may think about this challenge, because I could read another one by her. The Murakami books are well known and I'd like to try one, but they look so long.

  5. raidergirl3: After Dark by Murakami is not long at all. In fact, I wanted it to be longer! I enjoyed it very much. It also is out in paperback with a GREAT cover :o)

  6. Terri, one more thing: I've looked for your email address and been unable to find it. Would you mail it to me at bellezza.mjs@gmail.com so that I can include you in the review site and send you other updates as they occur? Thanks!

  7. We're both reading Out. That's cool. Plus, I could just as easily have gone with your other two selections.

  8. I really loved Kafka on the Shore. I hope you enjoy it too! I'm still not sure about my list, but I think I'll include Murakami and Yoshimoto too.
