Book Awards II Challenge

Book Awards II Challenge

This 10 month, 10 book challenge sounds like a great way to organize some more of my reading, so I thought I'd join in the fun. Here are the rules:

1. Read 10 award winners from August 1, 2008 through June 1, 2009.
2. You must have at least FIVE different awards in your ten titles.
3. Overlaps with other challenges are permitted.
4. You don't have to post your choices right away, and your list can change at any time.
5. "Award winners" is loosely defined; make the challenge fit your needs, keeping in mind Rule #2.
6. SIGN UP using Mr. Linky at this URL.
7. Have fun reading!

  1. I read The Year of Magical Thinking when it first came out and while the subject is a hard one, I did enjoy this book. Didion is so honest in her writing. Looks like a good list.

  2. Terri B., I just signed up for this too, in fact, two after you. I was right after you and then Erin bumped me out! How dare she! ;) But anyway, I'm in and wanted to thank you for letting me know about American Gods being a prize winner too. I have that on my TBR pile in my home office (I tried to pick as many books as I already had). Surprisingly, I've heard of all of these, but only read one, the Irving book.

  4. I loved Midnight's Children! You've got some great books on your list and some that I'm going to be reading soon too. I did this challenge last year and really liked it but am too lazy to work out the logistics this year. ;)

  6. juliann: I've been sitting on this Didion book for about 5 years. I picked it up after my father died, but then found I didn't want to read about that particular topic yet. I think I'm ready to read it now.

Justareadingfool: I'd not been aware of the Bram Stoker award until I did some research to make my list. I'm looking forward to reading American Gods. I'm also reading it for my TBR Challenge. Love it when that happens. I also have A Prayer for Owen Meany on my TBR pile that I'm looking forward to fitting in sometime in the next year. Have you read that one?

jessica: I look forward to comparing notes with you on The Road!

trish: The only Rushdie book I've read so far is The Enchantress of Florence, which I enjoyed, so I'm looking forward to Midnight's Children (which I've heard great things about).

tanabata: I actually started Jonathan Strange already. It's over 800 pages and my reading time will be restricted over the next month. I guess I'm paranoid of "getting behind"!
