Weekly Geeks #7: Photo Edition

A loved one doing what she does best. She didn't get to pick up her copy of the last Harry Potter until a week after everyone else, but she didn't waste any time getting started once she got her hands on the book. We didn't see her for about 24 hours after we got her home.

One of my obsessions. This is my Murakami collection, minus my copy of Norwegian Wood which is currently traveling. The background items are from Japan in the 1950s. My father bought the geisha doll and the silk painting while he was stationed there and brought them home to my grandmother. I am now the loving keeper of these treasures.

Other Weekly Geeks:
I visited Bride of the Book God and admired her very comfy looking reading chair.

I also visited Terri at Reading, Writing and Retirement to see her solution to reading temptation.

Deweymonster at The Hidden Side of a Leaf sponsors Weekly Geeks. To see a list of others participating in Weekly Geeks #7 go here.

  2. Hey Terri B, from Terri G. Thanks for the note on my blog. I love your Murakami stack, very elegant. I've not read any of his books yet but have The Windup Bird Chronicle waiting in the wings. Looking forward to it.

    Your daughter is darling.

  5. Murakami: One of my favorites, of which I'm sad to say I've only read a few...but now at least I have a reference to double-check what I'm missing. Thanks (although to be honest, after going to a book sale at our local library, I really don't need any more books. No, really).

  7. lezlie, I enjoyed looking at everyone's photos too. It was interesting to see what people wanted to share.

Terri G., Thanks for visiting! Hope you get to Murakami someday. I'll be interested in what you think.

nymeth, Let me know when you get more Murakami. Maybe we can co-read one if you're interested.

bkclubcare, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is one that I still need to read. I'm guessing I'll like it. Drop back by and tell me what you think when you read Murakami.

justareadingfool, A visual Murakami reference tool. Come by and consult that picture anytime!

jaimie, I'll be visiting again. Love to see what others are reading and compare notes when we read the same books.

  8. I'm a little late getting to know Murakami, but I have enjoyed him this year. I just bought his (newly released?) "After Dark", and I'm looking forward to delving in. Your picture is beautiful, as are all things Japanese, aren't they?
