As a librarian, I found this quite amusing. Some things haven't changed much though, such as the young man looking for a specific book ... though he doesn't remember the title ... or author ... but it was blue!
This video was part of the US Government film series on careers, circa 1946.

Blog Watch
This is my first (and may even be my last) entry in a new category called Blog Watch. This just means "really cool/funny/thoughtful/etc. blog I want everyone to go look at." OK, now that I've got definitions out of the way ...
I was wandering around in cyberland and came across Stuff White People Like. I'm still laughing! Put this one under social commentary--socioeconomic humor--satire.
My apologies to those who have a sense of humor that differs from mine.

Whew!
I've just finished reading The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins and I'm convinced I should have joined the Chunkster Challenge! At 600+ pages, this one certainly qualifies.
I've got a little research and thinking to do before I write my review, but I will be posting one for this title.
I chose this title for our book club to read since I thought it would be good for discussion (it will), I had always wanted to read it, and it fit with the types of books we read in our book club. When I selected it, I realized that it would be somewhat challenging considering the year it was written (1860) and the conventions of Victorian/Gothic literature, but I had no idea that it was sooo long. I really didn't mean to subject anyone to a lengthy Victorian melodrama. Really. Honest. Think they'll forgive me?
Trivia: Did you know that Andrew Lloyd Webber made a musical out of this?? Read about it here or here.

Out Sick
Sorry to all one of you that are still reading my blog! I continue to battle a nasty and clingy cold. I've managed to get "out-and-about" a bit by visiting your blogs, but haven't really had the brain power to do any writing of my own. Hopefully I'll be back in form soon. Sniffle. Cough.
